It is my belief that at the onset of the Great Recession things started to change dramatically in the workplace. Millions of people lost their jobs and their livelihood was threatened. The aim of this blog is to write about the people who have managed to keep their jobs, with myself being a part of this group.

words of inspiration for someone fighting addiction As addicts, we often see pain and struggle as enemies to recovery. In fact, they are the reason we drink, drug, or dabble. And as our addiction intensifies, we find that it actually causes more difficulties. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Pain and addictions professional struggle can lay the foundation for a successful recovery. An old A.A. motto states, “Pain before sobriety and pain before serenity.” In other words, pain comes before triumph but also develops perseverance, peace, and hope.
God’s will, on the other hand, is usually about helping others and with what’s right for all concerned — the whole picture in which I am just part. While this seems backwards to me at times, I always find out that when I’m able to surrender to God’s will, my real wants and needs are met and exceeded in ways I never could have imagined.
When considering who will participate in an intervention, you want to make sure that you only invite people who can be on the same page as the other participants. You don’t want someone present in the intervention that will sabotage your efforts. So, it is appropriate to figure out who, on your list, presents themselves as the weakest links. Anyone who would not be able to tell the addict about the negative effects on his/her own life that are associated with the addict’s drinking/using, without waffling, apologizing, or taking it all back under pressure–would be a weak link. An intervention is not a popularity contest. Don’t worry about whether someone will have their feelings hurt because they were not invited. It is not about them. You have a goal. Who can help you achieve that goal?
